ANATOMY OF THE SPINE

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE STRUCTURE OF THE SPINE

The main structure for support of the human body is the spinal column. The spinal column is comprised of cervical, thoracic and lumbar regions which function together to allow the body to maintain an upright position. In conjunction with the musculature and surrounding tendons and ligaments, bending and twisting motions are also possible. This compete structure also protects the spinal cord and nerves which provides sensation and mobility to the upper and lower extremities. When working together efficiently, these structures produce a healthy and functional spine.
